Event Details

The Professional Acting Fundamentals Workshop is an interactive, three-hour workshop that covers:

  • Professional Preparation (warm-up, stretching, articulation)
  • Theater Games
  • First Call, Call Back, Director’s Meeting
  • Working Actor: Background, Stand-In, 5-and-Under, Supporting or Lead Actor
  • Auditioning
  • Monologues
  • Marketing Tools: Headshot/Resume, Social Networking, Websites
  • Networking and Knowing Your Industry

This workshop is for those who are thinking about becoming an actor or who have already entered the acting business, but may not know how to build a professional career. Get insider’s knowledge from professionals with over 40+ years of experience from Broadway to Hollywood.

This workshop is presented by the Actors’ Innovative Resource in association with Victor L. Love, a classically-trained Shakespearean actor, MFA and star of stage, film and television. Victor has portrayed over 20 classical roles on stage including Othello, Brutus and MacBeth -- all over the country from Hollywood’s Stella Adler to the Music Box Theater on Broadway. His critically acclaimed breakout performance in Native Son supported by Oprah Winfrey, Matt Dillon, and Ving Rhames led to appearances on L.A. Law, A Different World, West Wing and the film, Gang Related, starring the late Tupac Shakur and James Belushi.

Urban Mediamakers Association



The mission of the Urban Mediamakers  Association is to promote and support a strong diverse independent media arts community in metro-Atlanta emphasizing the work of African, Asian and Latin descent creatives. Our goal is to be a main player in the continuous movement to attain diversity in media by providing individuals with assistance with development, production, post-production, financing and distribution of independent media -- animation, film, music, print, television and video.

A 501(c)(3), tax exempt, not-for-profit, charitable organization, the Urban Mediamakers Association brings talented and aspiring creative individuals together. Guided by past wisdom and reflecting the new generation of mediamaking, we are dedicated to thinking out of the traditional box. We depend on powers beyond ourselves to provide opportunities and open doors in all facets of our lives.

Through our Young Urban Mediamakers (YUMs) program, we are partnering media professionals with youth ages 12-19 to encourage, inspire and educate them in all areas of media.
